Introduction
The climbing wall is a leading-edge climbing facility, consisting of dynamic climbing structures that are among the highest in the country. We offer a wide variety of climbing experiences including bouldering, top-rope climbing and lead climbing for recreational and high performance climbers.
We are driven by a passion for climbing and a commitment to promoting the benefits of climbing as a lifestyle. As such we invite everyone to enjoy our wide range of programs!
We offer
- drop-in climbing opportunities,
- instructional programs,
- private lessons for groups and individuals
We do not have staff available to belay drop-in climbers
Important
- Assumption of Risk Agreement must be signed by parent or guardian of an under 18 participant
- Participants older than 18 must complete a Waiver of Liability Agreement

Facility Reservations for Groups
We cater to a wide variety of group requirements including
- Birthday parties, community groups, team building, custom bookings, rappelling, party room
- Group exposure sessions are generally two hours long and include instruction on
- movement and bouldering skills
- climbing on some of the highest structures in Western Canada
How to make a reservation
- Check hours of operation for available booking times
- Call the customer service representative at 780-492-2767; email climbing@ualberta.ca
- Facility fee (dependent on group numbers. see below) required with reservation
- Confirmation package will be sent via email, fax or mail
- Bring completed waiver/assumption of risk forms with you at your reserved time
Fees
- A facility fee will be levied per group at the time of booking
- The fee is based on the number of participants in the group
- A per-participant fee must be paid in addition to the facility fee
- The per-participant fee is based on the number of climbers in the group

Instructional Climbing Programs
The climbing wall offers a number of instructional climbing programs for children, adults and youth. All programs fees include the use of equipment.

- Activities Guides are produced in hard copy three times per year and are available in specially marked bins in locations across campus

- Purchase an Access Card to gain admission to the climbing complex.
- Present the card and one piece of picture ID each time you use the climbing wall.
Important
- All climbing wall users must complete a waiver form
- All climbers must check in at the wall
- Although the Access Card is a one-time annual cost, payment of an admission fee is required each time you climb
- All Access Passes are valid for one year from date of issue
- Climbers wishing to top rope must successfully complete a High Wall Check
- Climbers wishing to lead must successfully complete a Lead Climbing Check. Please email climbing@ualberta.ca to schedule.
- In all cases, climbers 13 years or younger must be supervised by an adult
- Children 13 or younger may be belayed by an adult who has successfully completed the High Wall Check
Free access for undergraduate students on Wednesdays (September 1 - November 30)
Undergraduate Student Free Climb - 1200 - 1600, Wednesdays
Cut-off for check-in at the wall is 1500
- Undergraduate Student Free Climb is available to undergraduate students only
- A current Access Membership card is required
- Equipment rentals are available at the regular rate
- All climbers must complete an Assumption of Risk Agreement/ Waiver of Liability Agreement
