Social Events

As a conference participant you'll be able to join two fabulous events - both are included in your registration fee:

  • Thursday, August 11 Edmonton Fringe Festival - We'll be going en masse to see "The Surprise" - one of the top-rated plays at the Fringe.
    • To ferry everyone there we've arranged a bus to transport all Fringe-goers to the venue. Buses will be leaving from the Jubilee Auditorium parking lot (beside Lister Centre) at 6:30, 7:00 and 7:30 p.m.
    • The play starts at 8 p.m. (You must be at the theatre by 7:45 p.m., latecomers will not be admitted) so everyone will have to have a fairly quick dinner before the show
    • Those taking the earlier buses will have time to eat at or near the Fringe Festival grounds, there are plenty of excellent, exotic and wild places to try
    • Those taking the late bus will need to have had dinner before getting on the bus and then go straight to the play 
    • After the play, buses will be coming back to the Jubilee at 9:30. 10:15 and 11:00 p.m. (exact location for pick-up still being negotiated). So, for those who are “Fringe curious” (and we encourage it!), there'll be time to take in a little more of the Fringe atmosphere after the show
    • Maps of the Fringe Festival site and the location of the venue for the play will be provided in the conference bag you will receive at the registration desk
  • Friday, August 12, Social Night at Hudson's on Campus at 6.30 p.m.
    • We are hosting a get-together at Hudson’s Tap House, a great little campus hang-out within walking distance of the University of Alberta (5 minutes from Lister Centre)
    • A buffet dinner and soft drinks will be provided for all registered conference delegates
      • Dinner includes roast beef and chicken with mushroom sauce, salads, vegetables etc.
    • Meals for your guests are not included; they will need to order from the a la carte menu and pay for their own meal 
    • The festivities will start at 6:30 p.m. and the buffet will open at 7:00 p.m. We look forward to seeing you all there!
